UNIFORM INFORMATION

• Central Ohio Rowing requires all returning competitive (varsity and novice) athletes to have an official race uniform called a "unisuit" or “uni.” A uni is the optimal competitive garment. It is made of a quick-dry, wicking material which helps keep your athlete comfortable in the heat and cold. The ideal uni sizing is a tight, form fitting garment. This minimizes chaffing as well as the chance of catching in the moving parts of the boat to keep your athlete safe. COR also requires all competitive athletes to have a First Season Shirt. This is a performance style shirt that is worn by athletes who have not yet received their uni, and may be worn over the uni as needed to fulfill a uniform requirement within a boat. Some of the regattas COR attends have a uniform requirement, which stipulates that members of a team must wear a uniform with a consistent theme, pattern, and color.  Note:  please refer to the provided size chart or sizing tips when ordering!  Unisuits and other uniform items do not fit/size the same as regular clothing.  It is important that uniform items fit as intended for best performance and safety within the boat.

REQUIRED UNIFORM ITEMS FOR COMPETITIVE ATHLETES

• Uni: Purchase during uniform sale at end of season for the following season.  Uni is required for returning athletes only.
• Hat: Purchase at the time of registration.  The COR Racing Hat is required for all novice and varsity athletes and is to be worn when racing.
• First Season Shirt: Purchase at the time of registration.  First Season Shirt is required for all novice and varsity athletes. (This is the uniform for first season athletes, but returning athletes may wear this over the uni as needed to match uniforms within a boat.)
• Black spandex shorts or trou: Purchase on your own to be worn with the First Season shirt. Examples are provided in the links below:

• Black base layer, long sleeved shirt and pants: Purchase on your own. These should be form fitting and are to be worn UNDER the uni or shirt/trou in cold weather

REQUIRED UNIFORM ITEMS FOR REC ATHLETES

• There are no required uniform items for Rec Athletes.  If Rec Athletes participate in an exhibition event, they will be instructed what to wear.  

RECOMMENDED ITEMS FOR ALL ATHLETES

• Black Beanie to be worn in cold weather
• COR jacket: This is an optional item that is available for purchase during the uniform sale. This may be embroidered with the athlete’s name.  Beginning Fall 2023 the jacket will be a Varsity only item.
• Long Sleeved Uniform Shirt:  This is an optional item for cold weather and can be ordered  during uniform sale. This shirt is designed to be worn OVER the uni, so athletes can easily remove the layer if needed.  Beginning Fall 2023, the Long Sleeved Uniform Shirt will be required for all Varsity athletes. 
• Please be aware that athletes are not permitted to wear gloves while rowing.

SIZING INFORMATION

• The First Season Shirt comes in Men’s and Ladies’ sizing. The Men’s fits like a traditional t-shirt. The Ladies’ is a fitted style; athletes should consider sizing up or ordering a Men’s if preferred. 
• Unis, Long Sleeved Shirts, and Jackets are ordered though Boathouse. Boathouse has a reputation for their accurate sizing. Please see the size chart here: https://www.boathouse.com/pages/size-chart. 
• If you need additional help to select the proper fit, you are encouraged to call Boathouse Customer Service at 877-672-9257. 
• Unis should fit snuggly. If you are between sizes, it is strongly recommended to order the smaller size.  Do not allow for "growing room" in a uni, it will be too big. 
• If neither the sizing chart nor the Boathouse Customer Service Representative can adequately answer your questions, please reach out to Terri Rasnic at gear@centralohiorowing.org. Some uni and jacket size samples may be available for your athlete to try on if necessary. If you would like an opportunity to best determine your athlete’s fit, schedule a time as soon as possible.
